Move-to-Earn Concept
Move-to-Earn (M2E) (aka “FitFi”) is an ideal combination of GameFi and Fitness Apps that incentivize a more healthy, active lifestyle with token rewards.
STEPN, a Web3 lifestyle app launched in late December 2021, has kicked off the recent surge in FitFi’s popularity. This model has since been adopted by various other apps that utilize geolocation data, physical sensors, augmented reality, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and other existing blockchain technologies to gamify fitness using blockchain technology.
Leveraging the utility of crypto and NFTs, Move-to-Earn applications allow users to earn a reward for participating in regular exercise activities or fitness-related challenges. Tokens earned from Move-to-Earn can be used in the game world or exchanged for crypto or fiat money following their terms for profits.
Move-to-Earn vs. Play-to-Earn
The critical differences between P2E and M2E are the reward system and the revenue model.
As you can tell, there are some differences between the P2E model and the M2E model. Both are so much more than virtual gaming, that’s for sure.
P2E is anticipated to mature from a fad to an established concept. The gaming industry is exhilarating, but leisure and community interaction should remain at the forefront. True gamers are more concerned with the gameplay and visuals than with the business model.
Also gaining momentum in the scene is M2E. For people who struggle to obtain enough exercise, a pay model could provide the necessary motivation. However, the concept of move-to-earn is still in its infancy, so we will have to wait and see what the future holds.
How does the Move To Earn concept function? Exist Differences Regarding P2E?
In P2E, players will earn tokens for winning battles, advancing through stages, and exploring the universe within the game. These tokens are then used to purchase equipment, clothing, and other goods for the characters in the game. People must spend a large amount of time in front of their devices playing games in order to win awards, which can be detrimental to their physical health. Move-to-earn game development apps, on the other hand, use the mobile device’s sensors to detect the player’s movements and automatically reward them for physical activity.
Therefore, the M2E concept extends the benefits of blockchain-based rewards beyond gaming to motivate individuals to live healthier lives. This coincides with the growing popularity of fitness trackers and wellness programmes in the workplace that encourage employees to exercise. Fitness-based M2E has the potential to reduce health insurance costs and sick leave. Therefore, M2E applications have the potential to reach a larger audience than P2E applications.
